Why You Should Read This:
This fic starts off as an AU and then segues into canon neatly. The author did a wonderful job with the emotions in this fic – the death of Danny’s mother is so sad, and the children’s reactions to said death are believable.  I could see teen!Danny as the author wrote him – hurt, trying so hard to keep it together while he takes care of his siblings, resorting to fighting as an outlet. The author was very good at creating younger versions of our beloved characters and making it clear that they will grow into the people we know from the show. Steve is a goof, Danny is so responsible, and everything is lovely.

Why You Should Read This:
Because It’s one of the most original fics in this fandom. Loki is complex and sweet. Clint is confused and Phil is the usual straight man. I loved this fic from beginning to end.

Why You Should Read This:

This is a beautiful and haunting story of Harry and Severus that is fully epilogue compliant.

The story starts at the end of the Deathly Hallows where Severus has died, yet the story is told from Severus’ point of view. For Severus’ painting has woken and he quickly finds he is not like the other paintings – he is more ‘alive’ and able to interact with the living than any other painting. Over the years, the two men learn to understand, respect and then love.

Because Severus is dead, Harry is free to marry Ginny and have those kids we met in the epilogue. Because we ‘knew’ Harry for so long, it’s easy to forget he’s still a teen-ager at the end of the books and still has to grow up. We watch — along with Severus — Harry grow up, mature and become an adult but not without some trials and tribulations along the way. You’ll laugh and cry before you’re done.

Pir8fancier has written several Snarry fics but declared this to be her last one; it became her canon on how Severus and Harry came together. , That’s too bad since she writes lovely stories and I can recommend them all.

Summary: Another way the Baron rose to power. Another way the wizard became a Knight. This is what happens when you take your lessons in heroism from Machiavelli and Vetinari.

Why You Should Read This:
Because this is the Dresden Files fic, in my opinion. What would have happened if Harry had accepted Marcone’s offer to work for him? How would that have changed events in the books? Lucia has an amazing grasp on the characters. Marcone is sly, calculating, but completely accepting of Harry and his personality. Harry is as he always is – protective of his city, powerful, reckless. Marcone wants a partnership, he doesn’t want to squash Harry, and he’s willing to wait for what he wants. This fic covers a lot of ground – both in terms of going over the first few books and Harry and John’s relationship. Harry believes himself straight, and John is willing to change his mind centimeter by agonizing centimeter. Believable, plotty, gradual, wonderful.

Summary: The unique thing about Event Horizon, and something Rodney was quite proud of, was that the store itself was a physical representation of the mind of its owner. The filing system that had so amused Sheppard served a greater purpose. The problem was that Rodney hadn’t yet figured out just what that purpose was. He only knew that he liked things a certain way. If one took a moment to piece the filing system together, they would realize that it told the story of one man, perched behind his counter, trying to fend off the world.

Why You Should Read This:
This fic is woefully unknown. As far as I can tell, the author hasn’t posted a link to the McKay_Sheppard livejournal community, so most don’t even know it exists, which is a damn shame. It deserves way more hits and kudos than it has Rodney owns a bookstore with its own unique organization and John owns a surf shop a few businesses down. John barges his way into Rodney’s life, pulling a reluctant Rodney out of his quiet life and into one with friendship and teenagers and surfing (and, eventually, love). I love that owns his own business in this – many AU’s have John owning a shop and Rodney being a patron, but this is a refreshing take. It’s also not filled with angst (though there a little), which is another nice change – for all the variety the SGA fandom has, there aren’t that many fics that are long and mostly happy all the way through -  and sometimes I want a happy read to match my good mood. Read this, you won’t regret it!

Why You Should Read It
The characterization is wonderful and awesome and the snark is great.  I’d consider it a fairly nice introduction to the fandom and pairing because it fills you in on need-to-know infromation as it goes along.  Chronologically, this takes place after the events in Iron Man II and The Hulk, but before the events in Thor.

Summary: Frannie’s got a romance novel with a big strapping Mountie on the cover, shirt hanging open, hair blowing in the wind, you know the kind.

Why You Should Read This:
Due South was great at taking implausible, crazy plots and making them seem normal within the context of the show – and this fic does the same. Who would suspect a kangaroo of being on the streets of Chicago, of all places? Casefic, but it’s Due South casefic, which means it’s hilarious and random and slashy A delightful, fun read that’s not too long. If you’re in need of cheering up, this would be an excellent fic to try!

There are a few sub-plots of intrigue and mystery, but really, I read it for the sex.

Why You Should Read This:
Because Arthur is a HBO Camelot fandom BNF and Merlin is his fanfic beta. What more reason do you need? I love this fic – I love how it captures fandom, told from the view of beloved characters. I love how Arthur comes to depend on and value Merlin, how they decide to meet in real life – now that I think about it, there isn’t anything that I don’t love about this fic. You should totally read this, it’s fun and light-hearted, and fandom-focused! Written for the Merlin Kink Meme, then reposted in a neater format.

Summary: (No author summary.) Japanese salaryman Ryou stumbles into an alternate universe and joins up with warrior Darius, whose life he saves. They have adventures together traveling the Outlands.

Why You Should Read This:  The Outlands are a series of universes that overlay the familiar like an onion and are ruled by the mysterious Magian, who traverse the multi-verse with the powers of the mind and higher mathematics.  This is a wonderful action/adventure historical epic with enough world!building to satisfy even the most die-hard. The romance between Darius, a barbarian Greek-style hero and Ryou, an “ordinary” Japanese accountant, is smokin’  hot and doesn’t take a back seat to the well-developed plot. Plus there are some great side characters including my favorite, the political savant and cross-dressing King Leyam,  brother to Darius. A warning though as only the first book (or Arc) of the series is complete, though it does provide a nice stopping point for the romance.

Summary:
Drinking, sex, and a total misreading of the concept of fuck buddies.

Why You Should Read This:
It’s a lovely bit of porn wrapped up in too much drinking, fashion, a grand misunderstanding, and Ron is enough Hermione for everyone. It amused me and made me laugh and the sex was smoking. Also? It might have the best summary EVER.

Summary: First Officer Spock comments on life aboard the Enterprise and his service under Captain James T. Kirk.

Why You Should Read This:
This is the Enterprises’ five year mission told through the reboot characters. It’s first person Spock point of view, but don’t be scared off. This fic is extremely long, but the progression of Kirk and Spock’s relationship is fantastic – gradual, from the movie ‘verse strained relationship, to friendship, to more. It’s fascinating to read TOS experiences told through the reboot characters, and the author does a fantastic job of nailing down Spock’s characterization, and through his eyes, a great job on everyone else’s characterizations.

Summary:
After the destruction of Vulcan, Spock shielded his mind to protect it from his broken bond with T’Pring. Little did he know another bond had already formed in its place.

Why You Should Read This:
It made me cry which is in itself something to seriously consider because while movies can sometimes rip my heart out — the written word rarely gets me that worked up. I can take breaks and walk away from a story (normally) but I’ve read this one three times and I tear up every time. Jim’s pain is physical and visceral –it’s as much a character is any other in the story. McCoy is charming and protective in this fic and Sulu and Chekov form a “cabal of ire” for Spock that amuses despite the situation.

Why You Should Read This:
This is an absolutely wonderful read because of the exploration of their relationships and their identities.  John is struggling to find himself after the war, as well as well and truly suffering from PTSD.  My brother is currently suffering from PTSD and this is one of the best depictions of the trauma I’ve ever seen because one moment John can be completely normal and then something catches him off guard and he’s back in the war.  And that’s exactly what it’s like.  Mary, who goes by Tai, has only been having relations with women since her ex-husband abused her terribly, until John comes along.  Sherlock loves John but  he doesn’t understand why John matters when no one else ever has and struggles between wanting to please John and be what John requires, sexually, and his own identity as an asexual.  This also depicts asexuality wonderfully because its a highly misunderstood identity; having no personal sex drive doesn’t mean that you can’t feel desire or attraction, nor does it mean you can’t appreciate someone else’s pleasure.  Sherlock’s exploration with sexuality was the most fascinating, to me.

I also loved the fact that Sherlock is John’s “primary” and that Tai(Mary) is completely at ease with that.

Summary: Voldemort is dead and Harry has finally graduated from Hogwarts and is ready to live his life but his world is turned upside down when he realizes friends can become enemies and enemies become friends; the one he loved he now hates and the one he hated he now loves; poor men become rich; the one he trusted the most was the one who did him the most harm. A new dark lord appears and it turns out to be an ancient evil. And it all started with a visit to Gringotts.

Why You Should Read This:
Has all my favorite Harry Potter clichés. Powerful Harry ,Dumbledore and Ron bashing, descendant of founders, Founders portraits, snakes, snakes, and more snakes, going back into the chamber, mild mpreg later on, and more.I will warn for people who have very sensitive triggers that it does mention child abuse and attempted rape but not in detail.

Summary: Jesus Christ is dead. Somehow, that isn’t the worst part of Dean’s week.

Why You Should Read This:
This was the first Supernatural fic I ever read. I had no interest in the fandom before, but this fic left me craving more. Amazing crafted, wonderfully characterized, with a plot twist that I never saw coming – this fic is fantastic. There are no words for how amazing I find this fic – the human language is limiting, in this case. To give any details would give too much away – but I laughed, I cried, I felt anxious and I celebrated. This is one of my top 5 favorite fics ever.

Why You Should Read This:  Set in mid-4th season, this story deals with Sam’s choice to work with Ruby and how his insistence that he is in control shows just how out of control he really is during this time.  AU after the events in the episode Sex and Violence.  The story shifts POV from Castiel to Dean to Sam. Castiel and Dean embark of a quest to find a solution to Sam’s blood addiction even as the younger Winchester works against them. I spent time waffling between wanting to hug all the characters and beat them all to death for their stubbornness. The authors really have grasped the character’s voices and it is a long enjoyable read.

Summary: Danny’s Veela genes have never been a problem before now. Now? They’re a problem.

Why You Should Read This:
This fic is hot. Danny meets his mate, which causes him to go into heat. Steve becomes even more of a neanderthal as criminals begin to respond to the pheromones Danny is putting out, and Danny is desperate not to coerce Steve into something he wouldn’t normally want. The sex scene burns in the best possible way, and a possessive!Steve is always a delight.

Summary:
The Gardens of Wayne Manor is an AU based on a plot bunny by stranj100, in which Clark Kent’s life goes in an unexpected direction at an early age and ends up entangled with Bruce Wayne’s. The Clark of this AU is based a lot on the current comic canon, in which (as in the animated series) Clark isn’t told he’s not human until his teens. The Bruce of this AU is largely comics canon as well, based a great deal on Denny O’Neil’s Bronze Age origin story “The Man Who Falls.”

Why you should read this:
This is a great way for people who are new to the pairing tohop in. It gives you insites not only into two men who seam at times to be complete polar opposites, and yet still shows you the common bond that they share. The story goes though five parts of the lives of these two starting from ages 7 and 8. It’s a great what if Bruce and Clark had met as boys. If I tell you to much more I’d be giving out spoilers. Mithen is one of the best Bruce/Clark writers out on the web for a reason her handle on the voices of Bruce and Clark is as if she’s known them most her life and has coffee with them often.
